Something Far Worse |
||
Any person would be
foolish and uncaring to suggest that physical ills and impairments are
meaningless. We know they matter when we are the one who is beset by them.
Jesus met a man who was unable to walk and He healed him. What a glorious
relief that was for the man and how must have suffered much during the
time he was incapacitated.
But after Jesus raised him He warned, "Behold, thou art made whole: sin no more lest a worse thing come upon thee" (John 5:14). His lameness was certainly heavy to bear. But there is that which is far worse and that is the guilt of sins not forgiven. Spiritual disease exceeds physical malady. If only people would realize this and seek the remedy provided in Christ. |
