That's What Happened |
||
When Jesus and His
disciples were near the temple He foretold of its coming destruction and
Jerusalem. They asked about when that would be and He gave them signs by
which they could know it was about to occur (Matthew 24:5-33). Among the
signs was the notation that the enemy would come but the days of the siege
would be shortened for a period; then the end would come. The shortening
of those days would be for the elect's (Christian's) sake. During that
lull they could escape the city.
It is a historical fact that the Roman army, after encircling the city, pulled back for a period during which time Christians fled to the mountains of Pella. Then Rome fell on the city and destroyed it as foretold. Christians were spared "great tribulation." His prophecy was fulfilled precisely. |
