They Had a Tough Job |
||
None have had it so
tough as God's Old Testament prophets. Called of God, they had a duty to
perform. That required condemning sin, encouraging the sinner, warning the
wicked, pleading for righteousness, commending the good, and all the while
knowing they would be hated, despised, rejected, persecuted and few would
even pay attention to what they preached. Then they had to witness the
fall of the very ones they sought to save.
But it has been that way since Eden for those who do the will of God in a world that is primarily devoted to self and sin. It is no different now. Because being a Christian is so demanding so many shy away. |
