They Put a Limit on God |
||
Can man limit God?
He can if God's blessings are conditional. In the 78th Psalm the writer
looked at ancient Israel after they left Egypt and recalled how they
provoked God, grieved God, tempted God and limited God. This simply meant
that God could not and would not bless them in their disobedience. Even
so, Israel chose to disobey so often.
We know that God is the source of all our blessings (James 1:17). His mercy, grace and love are extended to us upon our obedience to His will. But we can limit what God will do for us if we do as did ancient Israel. People often complain of not receiving blessings. But the problem may likely be their own fault. God blesses His faithful children. All spiritual blessings are in Christ (Ephesians 1:3). If we chose not to come to Christ we cannot expect the blessings through Christ. It is not that God doesn't bless, but we limit Him by our disobedience. What a shame! |
