They Were Exceeding Sorry |
||
The Scripture tells
us that when Jesus told His disciples He would be betrayed into the hands
of men, killed but would be raised again the third day, the disciples were
exceeding sorry. The idea that such would happen to their Lord was a cause
of grief for them even though they did not fully understand it.
Certainly they were not sorry to hear that He would be raised again. But they did not grasp the full significance of the things they were told. Even though Jesus plainly taught them many things, it must have been difficult for the disciples to comprehend everything. Jesus knew it was difficult and that is why He promised them the Holy Spirit to guide them into all the truth and bring to their remembrance what He had taught them. Because of the divine guidance of what they taught we can have full confidence in their message. And their message was our salvation. |
