Two Views of One Stone |
||
Peter refers to
Christ as a living stone, a cornerstone, indeed, the chief cornerstone,
the head of the corner by which everything else is measured (1 Peter 2: 4,
6, 7). This was as had been prophesied by David and Isaiah. Christ
referred to those prophecies as having reference to Him (Matt. 21: 42).
Men consider this stone in different ways.
The obedient, those that believe on Him, consider Him precious and chosen of God. Well they should because by Him there is salvation. But He is disallowed by some. They are those who are disobedient, who consider Him a stone of stumbling and a rock of offence. It is tragic that some would consider the very One God has sent to provide for their salvation to be the very One they will not allow to govern their lives.
