We Can Confuse Them |
||
We have good reason
to have respect for ourselves inasmuch as we creatures of God, being
created in His image, having spirit as well as body. Nothing else in
creation is so composed. Furthermore, only mankind is offered eternal
life. God considers even one more valuable that all the world (Matt. 16:
26).
At the same time we are not to think of ourselves more highly than we ought to think. This is pride and pride is destructive to us (Proverbs 16: 18). Man is often guilty of lacking self-respect and proper esteem. He gives up on himself and his behavior is repulsive. On the other hand, some are so puffed up about themselves that they act as if they had been elected to replace God. |
