What a Legacy to Leave |
||
Fathers should give
great attention to what they leave their children. Some consider providing
money, property, fame, etc. to be great legacies. Not necessarily! Many
have left that and left their children mental and spiritual paupers
because they failed to give them what is more important.
We read about a king of Israel named Ahab. It is said of him, "And Ahab the son of Omri did evil in the sight of the Lord above all that were before him" (First Kings 16: 30). When you read this you feel disgust for Ahab but pity for his descendants. What a memory they would have of him! He excelled in wickedness. Has he been the last father to do that? Doubtless the condition of society would be remarkably improve if fathers would attend to their duties toward their families. With so much attacking the family structure today, good fathers are hard to come by. We thank God for godly fathers who show their love by their deeds of goodness, leading their families toward heaven by following God's will. |
