What God Did For Him |
||
"He delivereth
me from mine enemies: yea, thou liftest me up above those that rise up
against me: thou hast delivered me from the violent man" (Psalm
18:48). We cannot always be certain who penned a given psalm nor the
circumstance that provoked it. But the eighteenth surely fits a situation
David faced many times. This psalm may refer to his deliverance from
Goliath, Saul, Absalom, or any number of his enemies. But those details
are not the important notice. What God had done on his behalf is the
message. To God be the glory forever.
Although the writer faced those who sought his destruction, God had delivered him from their purpose. His survival and victory could be attributed to God rather than himself. Is this not also true of us as we live our lives amidst people and events that seemed designed to harm us? |
