What They Thought Mattered |
||
Jesus chose His
apostles and sent them to preach the coming of the kingdom. When they
returned to Him He asked who the people thought He was. Various answers
were give and as usual what people "think" does not always mean
they have it right. It seems strange that none seemed to realize He was
the promised Messiah. Nonetheless Jesus was especially concerned as to
what the apostles thought. They were to be His ambassadors and their faith
had to be solid and secure.
Peter gave answer (Matthew 16:16) that He was the "Christ, the Son of the living God." He had the right answer. What if they had doubts in their minds regarding Him? Could they have done what they did? It mattered what they thought and it matters what we think. "Thinking so" is not what proves the truth. But we must think the truth. The truth about Jesus is that He is the Son of God and the only Savior God has provided. |
