Why Northern Israel Fell |
||
The nation composed
of ten tribes fell to Assyria and was taken into captivity from which it
never returned as a nation. The fall was because of the wickedness of its
princes, prophets, priests, pastors and people. At the head of its evil
was King Ahab. It is said of him, "And Ahab the son of Omri did evil
in the sight of the Lord above all that were before him" (1 Kings
16:30).
Is there any way that our nation can learn from Israel's past? Will we just close our eyes to the law of sowing and reaping? How many corrupt people can we install in high places before we bring down our own nation? Why are we so blinded to the danger? Every time we have the opportunity to select our leaders we need to consider the level of morality of those who seek to rule. Not all are good people.
