Why Not Earlier? |
||
You would think a
person who was lost in sin and now was among the saved would rejoice the
moment of salvation. We read about the Ethiopian who went on his way
rejoicing (Acts 8). He had confessed His faith in Christ and upon being
baptized he rejoiced.
Just why he did not rejoice once he believed is a puzzle. Some tell us we are saved at the point of faith. Evidently the Ethiopian did not get that from the preaching of Philip. He evidently learned when he was a saved person. That was when he not only believed but obeyed the Lord in baptism. Nor do we learn from faithful gospel preaching that we are saved at the point of faith. Some teach it but they do not teach as did the inspired men of the New Testament. They are stuck in their denominational dogma. Many are deceived thereby. |
