Wrong About Immortality |
||
Jehovah's Witnesses
deny the immortality of the soul of man. They are rank materialists. Man,
to them, is wholly mortal, like animals, and cease to exist once they die.
"The soul of man is not eternal but mortal, and it can die. Animals
likewise have souls, though man has the preeminence by special
creation." (Jehovah of the Watchtower, page 30).
But the Bible teaches man is a soul, a spirit, in the likeness of God. Consider but one teaching; the account of the rich man and Lazarus (Luke 16: 17- 31). Both men lived and both men died, but both men existed after death. Both were in a state of consciousness. The body that was buried was something different from that which went into the unseen world. (Do not be deceived by the claim this is "only a parable." Evidence is that it is historical. Whether a parable or not, Jesus taught the truth, not falsehood.)
